The mission begins in perfect stillness: silver heels against a steel deck, lilac catching the glow of the instruments, a ringed planet turning silently beyond the glass. Then the warning lights turn red. The alien fleet arrives without invitation, and Captain Ronnie discovers that the most important accessory on any command deck is nerve.
